EDIT: Thanks for your submissions, the contest is now closed!

I see we got a few decent last-minute entries, so the choice is going to be hard.
cosmicbound and I are arguing about the winners right now :slap: we should come to a conclusion soon, though!

Stay tuned for the results!

Hello again from Space-Revived!

We are back with a new event! :eager:

Unique Planets is the new contest for all members of our group Space-Revived.
The special part: Unique Planets is a double theme, meaning we will have two categories!

Theme:

Our solar system has only eight planets, and we think we know them pretty well (at least from far away). But our sun is just one of many in the Milky Way, and our galaxy in turn is just one in a plethora of so many uncountable worlds out there. We literally have no clue what planets could await us in those other distant galaxies.

Unique conditions can create gorgeous alien landscapes with spectacular wildlife. But instead of lush and colorful, your planet could also be harsh and uninhabitable. Or, if you want to go really crazy, consider that ordinary matter (everything we can see with our current technology) makes up just 5% of the entire universe! What if the laws of physics work a bit differently from what we would expect for those other 95%?

Category #1:
Space

Your task is to create a unique planet in space. Special terrain and living conditions are shown in the unique texture and shape of your planet. Or did advanced technology and terraforming change the planet altogether?

Category #2:
Landscapes

Proximity to the sun, atmosphere density, intelligent life -- many factors can shape life and landscape on the planet itself. This is your up-close vision of a unique world. Perhaps inhabited by alien lifeforms, or completely uninhabitable?

Rules:

  • You must be a member of Space-Revived to participate. However, everyone is welcome to join!
  • Submit your work to our Unique Planets folder
  • State in your description that the image was made for the Unique Planets contest with a link to this journal
  • Please specify in which category you are entering!
  • Two entries per deviant allowed, but only one can win
  • All entries must be created after August 24, 2016 and before October 24, 2016 (11:59 pm PST)
  • Digital and Traditional Art entries are accepted
  • All used resources must be legitimate and properly credited with a direct link.
FAQ #217: What are "Stock and Resources" and can I use them in my submissions?

Keep in mind that using premade planets or telescope imagery can reduce your chances of winning to 0! Challenge yourself and create your own!

Hello everyone, we are looking for more contributors to help us get this group back on the radar! As a contributor, you would be able to:

- Vote submitted mattepaintints to the group
- Write mattepainting related journals

*You must have mattepainting experience.

Send us a note! Lets get this group going again :)
Hello matte painters !
It's been two years that the group exists, thank you all to submit your art !

Time passes, I accepted 94% of submit. I was nice but now i will delete artworks of the group who not respect totally a real matte painting (i also accept matte painting concept art).
So please respect the format.
A matte painting is a background, not a photomanipulation of a "woman" with a landscape... but if you can, submit only the landscape without the "woman" :)

Click this link to know what a matte painting: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matte_pa…

Too many people take the habit to posting artworks in any groups to publicise their artworks and they never looked at if they submit in the right group

I've created a new category called "Best Matte Paintings of the Month"

Continue to support the group !

Thank you ! =)

------------------------------------------

Merci ! =)

The Zelda Project is a Southern, CA based crew of fans who seek to bring the classic Nintendo video game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, to life. Utilizing all aspects of art from costuming and photography to 3D CGI visual effects, our end goal is to create the real life world of Hyrule through our still photos, and hopefully attain a large enough following that we can garner a budget in order to shoot a pilot for a Legend of Zelda feature film to pitch to Nintendo.

All the photos are pre-composited together with 3D models and lighting adjusted to the photo as best that we can. However, there is a certain element of photo-realism that we can't quite accomplish perfectly with 3D that a matte painter can accomplish in the finishing touches of the picture. Our goal primarily is to retain photo-realism in our composites so that the world of Hyrule is a believable world.

At the moment, our "Fire Temple" shoot, which is our second shoot we have undertaken, has met with many bumps in the road with our artistic help. As it stands, we need a talented matte painter to help us finish up our photos.

Please send interested emails to info@thezeldaproject.net"

We will not say if our gig is paid or not. Our budget is not large like a Hollywood film. We are fans creating this out of our own pockets, so we ask that we can post the ad, and that painters who are interested will do so for the love of Legend of Zelda, and the dream of creating a movie, and not for financial gain. If we can find the money to pay the painter, we will do so, but we want to handle the subject of money as a private correspondence, and not public knowledge. We are worried about fans backlash for us paying some of our crew, but not other crew.
